Margaret Stowe and Barbara Jungfer GUITAR DUO
Canadian guitarist Margaret Stowe and German guitarist Barbara Jungfer are excited to join forces for an encore European tour in 2011. In the spirit of the great “guitar duos”, this unique duo is poised to make waves, each bringing their individual spirit and creative sensibility to the guitar duo setting. Their combined talents and influences bring forth a variety of possibilities from modern jazz to blues, funk, latin, experimental, ambient and world styles. Both guitarists are enjoying successful solo careers. Barbara Jungfer studied jazz guitar at the Hochschule für Musik/Köln, Siena Italy with Enrico Rava and the Banff Centre for the Arts Canada. She won the studio contest of the Berliner Senat as well as the “Berlin Jazz and Blues Award“ and received a grant for a composer’s residence in New York. As a bandleader, she has performed at international jazz festivals in Germany, France, Marokko, India and Australia. “Going Places” is the latest CD release for Barbara, who has released three CDs as leader. “Barbara is a great musician with an astounding spectrum" - Gitarre & Bass".
Margaret Stowe has performed all over Canada and Europe. She has been interviewed and performed on Vallee FM Radio Paris France, Radio Nacional de Espana Madrid and CBC Radio Canada and was featured in the Prague Post “Picks Of The Week” (cover). She has played such infamous locations as the Louvre Paris, CBGB’s NYC and Massey Hall Toronto. Margaret is listed in the Canadian Encyclopedia of Music and has the 2009 CUIT-FM Toronto Porcupine Lenny Breau Award. She has 4 CDs including Adventures of the Red Guitar and her latest Mello Jello, which has received excellent reviews. "It's hard to take your ears and eyes off Stowe" - London Free Press.
