Canadian guitarist Margaret Stowe and German guitarist Barbara Jungfer GUITAR DUO has performed all over Europe. These two guitarists, both enjoying successful solo careers, are excited to join forces. Their 2010 tour took them to jazz festivals, concerts and clubs in 5 countries. Their combined talents and influences bring forth a variety of possibilities from modern jazz to blues, funk, latin, experimental, ambient and world styles. Unique, original.

ABOUT MARGARET STOWE Toronto guitarist Margaret Stowe performs all over Canada and Europe. She has performed and recorded with a host of Canadian/International artists including Harry Manx, Ellen McIlwaine, Rita Chiarelli, Jane Bunnett, Salome Bey, Serena Ryder, Mose Scarlett, Lorraine Segato, Amos Garrett, Shakura S’Aida, Sue Foley, Big Rude Jake and a host of others. She has played such locations as The Louvre Paris France and CBGB’s New York City, major clubs and festivals including Montreal Jazz Festival, Toronto Jazz Festival, BlueBalls Lucerne Switzerland, Cognac Blues Passion France, Boqui Jazz Madrid, U Malehu Glena Praque and dozens of others.
In 2008 she was interviewed and performed on both Vallee FM Radio Paris France and Radio Nacional de Espana Madrid. She has a Bachelor degree from McMaster University and has done workshops with guitar greats Robert Fripp and Joe Pass. She has worked in musical theatre and performed with several symphony orchestras. She is listed in the Canadian Encyclopedia of Music under “Guitarists of Note”. She also performed with the Toronto Women’s Blue Revue for 13 years, at Toronto’s famed Massey Hall,
for CBC Radio Canada. She received the 2009 Porcupine “Lenny Breau Award”, CIUT-FM’s Back To the Sugar Camp “ultimate musicianship award”. She has released 4 CDs.

ABOUT BARBARA JUNGFER Originally from Berlin, Barbara Jungfer studied jazz guitar at the Hochschule für Musik/Köln. She received grants for international jazz workshops such as the Siena Jazz Seminar/Siena/Italy with Enrico Rava and the Banff Centre for the Arts/Canada with David Liebman, Kenny Wheeler and Kenny Werner.
Back in Berlin, she won the studio contest of the Berliner Senat as well as the “Berlin Jazz and Blues Award“ and received a grant for a composer’s residence in New York. As a very versatile musician, Jungfer has played in different context and styles, ranging from Blues over Fusion and World Music to Modern Jazz and in free and experimental structures.
Jungfer has worked with the likes of John Tchicai, German saxophone legend Helmut Brandt, Silke Eberhard, Schäl Sick Brass Band, Berlin Big Band, Peter O’Mara, Karen Gallinger, Ed Schuller, Joe Cohn, NDR Pops Orchestra and Klaus Doldinger’s Passport.
As a composer and bandleader, she has played all over Germany and toured various other countries, including international festivals like the Theatre Festival Avignon/France, Festival des Instruments a Cordes Rabat/Marokko, Indigo Jazz & Blues Fest Bangalore/India, Congo Square Jazzfest Kolkata/India and toured New South Wales/Australia.
She has released three CDs as a leader, one of them ("Berlin Spirits“) in coproduction with the Berlin Radio Station RBB andthe label minor music.
